Everton vs Fulham preview, prediction, team news, lineups and live stream

Everton is going head to head with Fulham starting on 19 Dec 2023 at 19:45 UTC. The match is a part of the EFL Cup.

In pursuit of their fifth consecutive victory to secure a spot in the EFL Cup’s last four, Everton is set to host Fulham at their Goodison Park home in a quarter-final clash on Tuesday evening.

Advancing to the quarter-finals, the Toffees dominated Burnley with a convincing 3-0 win in the fourth round, while Marco Silva’s team secured a 3-1 victory over Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town.

The spirit remains high among Sean Dyche’s Everton squad, some of whom may still be grappling with the impact of an unprecedented 10-point deduction.

However, they have channeled their frustration into a series of impressive performances in the top flight. Notably, they have triumphed over Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Chelsea this month without conceding a single goal.

Expectations were high as Dyche returned to Turf Moor on Saturday, with many anticipating a footballing lesson for his former team. The evening kickoff lived up to those expectations, with Amadou Onana’s towering header after 19 minutes setting Everton on the path to victory. Former Clarets player Michael Keane sealed the win with a straightforward finish, celebrating emphatically as he boosted Everton’s survival hopes at the expense of their struggling hosts.

Despite Vincent Kompany’s position as Burnley boss, lessons from November’s 3-0 EFL Cup fourth-round defeat to Everton seemed to go unheeded.

Everton had previously secured narrow away wins at Doncaster Rovers and Aston Villa, further bolstering their chances of clinching a maiden triumph in the tournament.

While Everton reached the EFL Cup quarter-finals in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns, their hopes of glory were extinguished by Leicester City and Manchester United in those respective years. Not since the 2015-16 season, where they lost to Manchester City in the semi-finals, have they managed to progress to the penultimate stage of the competition.
